At Drupa 2012 Xerox had the privilege of showcasing a one-of-a-kind solution to our worldwide customers – Freedom to Print. It is a an automated workflow that enables printers with multi-vendor shops to create any job and use a single workflow to send to the device of their choice. It is simple and efficient and truly eliminates the need for multiple workflows to manage multiple printers.
The solution was a huge hit! Shown for the first time at Drupa, customers and Industry Analysts alike recognized enormous value to the solution. At its core, the solution uses a visual job prepress interface for preparing and submitting your jobs. They can come from a variety of sources: new creative content, tools like FreeFlow Makeready and Process Manager, Kodak Smartboard or legacy formats like Digipath. Customer even have the choice of converting from formats such as Kodak’s KDK and submitting to another non-Xerox printer. Ultimately our goal is to help customers reduce their costs and improve their asset utilization.
An open workflow is a new paradigm shift in the industry and Xerox is proud to be leading it. We know that it has been a hassle for customers with multi-vendor shops to manage multiple workflows. The diverse print requirements among different devices has made it a real challenge. Now with the Freedom to Print, submission to different production printers is seamless. The solution is even easy enough for CSRs to operate. Ultimately Xerox is delivering a solution with unprecedented flexibility and unparalleled simplicity; that’s the Freedom to Print.

Freedom to Print will be sold as a software bundle and not as a SaaS.
