For Matrix Imaging Services, a provider of document processing services for the past 27 years, the goal was quite simple: to add color impact and personalization to transactional statements and promotional direct mailings…all at an affordable price.
As a service bureau with a customer base of upwards a thousand clients, Matrix Imaging had grown accustomed to offering statements and mailing solutions through their offset devices. This provided two key benefits: a cost-effective solution for long run lengths and the addition of color. But a major element was lacking with the inability to add variable data and personalization. For that, an additional print run was required using Matrix Imaging’s Xerox Nuvera to overprint variable information.
Enter the Xerox Color 8250 Production Printer. This cost-effective, high-speed cut-sheet system has provided Matrix Imaging with the ability to deliver high volume business-quality color on uncoated paper.

For the many clients’ of Matrix Imaging, color and personalization can now be added to important documents – all while maintaining cost efficiencies. For Matrix, this solution has allowed them to co-mingle the statement and mailing runs for dissimilar clients into a singular print run, helping them to achieve maximum postal discounts and tremendous cost savings.
Case in point: Matrix wasted very little time to challenge their Xerox 8250. One of the first jobs they ran was a challenging 12-page duplex highlight color job requiring 60,000 sets. If done digitally, they could complete the job in one pass, with the output collated and ready for insertion. The 8250 didn’t disappoint- running the 1.2 million clicks uninterrupted from start to finish.
And with just-in-time capabilities, Matrix Imaging has been able to eliminate obsolescence for instances where a client changes their mind. Gone are the days where boxes of pre-printed shells are stored on warehouse shelves, collecting dust.
Additional benefits such as an inline spectrophotometer, auto-carrier dispense, standard iGen toner, and the ability to produce 137.5 letter images per minute help to ensure Matrix Imaging is producing quality output with unbelievable efficiency. This new solution has created new workflows and opened many opportunities.
